Glipizide drug commonly known as the Glucotrol is used to treat the
patients suffering from diabetes. The drug, Glipizide received an
approval from the FDA on 16th of July in 1999.This oral treatment
for diabetes , was thus approved by the United States (US) Food and
drug Administration as Takeda Pharmaceuticals American, Inc’s and
Eli Lilly & Co’s Glucotrol.
In July 2003 American Association noticed that this drug was given
even to patients suffering from heart problems and lever problems.
As a result the American Medical Association instructed the
concerned authority to keep a check on its prescriptions from the
physicians. Thus in July 2004 FDA included some warning sections
with the Glucotrol.
The approval given by FDA to Glipizide pills was not a mere
statement. IT was awarded with concrete reasons backed by many years
of researches and Clinical trials. FDA conducted surveys with more
than 4500 patients suffering by diabetes. The surveys were held
under six US medical departments. Patients were prescribed different
medicines and their results were taken into account while
considering a conclusion. Glipizide was compared with other
medicines of the same class. FDA also examined the combination of
Glipizide or the Glucotrol with different drugs like. In each of
these cases different results were obtained that showed considerable
amount of reduction in the blood glucose levels.
This proved that Glucotrol have many more options to be offered than
used alone with better results. According to these reports Glucotrol
have the additional blood glucose lowering advantages that is
offered by none other medicines or drugs that help to reduce the
sugar or the glucose levels in the body, where only dietary changes
have less effect to control the diabetes. Glipizide is manufactured

world. Thus the treatment with Glucotrol in the near future can be
considered as the best.
